...San Diego Councilman Kevin Faulconer, who represents beach communities, opposes a ban on alcohol on the sand. ...[He] said he wants to get now-warring community groups at one table for six to nine months to hammer out recommendations. Faulconer expects to name the task force members in the next few weeks.
Obviously, people LIKE the way our
beaches are. Says Outside magazine: "The miles of white sand
beaches, swelling waves, and an eclectic dining and shopping district
make San Diego's Pacific Beach one of the most popular stretches of
sand in the Golden State — 26 million people visited last year."
