FREEPB.ORG TAKES ACTION TO MITIGATE FOURTH OF JULY ISSUES
San Diego, CA - This year, FREEPB.ORG has worked to protect the rights of individuals at San Diego's parks and beaches. As part of this effort FREEPB.ORG has taken action to mitigate some of the problems that occur when thousands of citizens that choose to celebrate Independence Day at city beaches.
FREEPB.ORG has teamed with the California Association of Independent Grocers and Convenience Stores (IGCS) in producing a public service announcement that has been posted in the windows of hundreds of beach area businesses (attached).
FREEPB.ORG has also joined I Love A Clean San Diego's (ILACSD), and the California Association of Independent Grocers and Convenience Stores (IGCS), Fourth of July Solution 4 Pollution, an effort to reduce pollution and increase recycling at San Diego's beaches over the Independence Day weekend.
Taking a proactive approach, ILACSD will distribute 10,000 blue recycling bags at convenient beach area stores and lifeguard stations throughout San Diego. These free bags, labeled "RECYCLABLES ONLY" will be available to the public and are intended to reduce beach and bay pollution and increase recycling.
The public will be able to pick up these free recycling bags at IGCS' member convenience and liquor stores in the beach areas of La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Mission Bay and Ocean Beach beginning July 1.
FREEPB.ORG volunteers will be distributing these free recycling bags and trash bags around the beach area from its base of operations at Sail Bay on the Fourth of July.
To find out where to pick up "RECYCLABLES ONLY" bags, visit ILACSD online at www.ilacsd.org or call 1-800-237-BLUE. Bags are also available for pick up at ILACSD's office, located at 4891 Pacific Highway, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
FREEPB.ORG volunteers will also be distributing flyers in cooperation with the City of San Diego Park & Recreation Department informing beach goers of where to find temporary restrooms and dumpsters.
FREEPB.ORG continues to keep its more that 1000 members informed of the laws that affect them when celebrating Independence Day at the beach and encourages them enjoy their freedoms responsibly.
